Savannah Colbert has never known why she's so hated by the kids of the Clann. Nor can she deny her instinct to get close to Clann golden boy Tristan Coleman. Especially when she recovers from a strange illness and the attraction becomes nearly irresistible. It's as if he's a magnet, pulling her gaze, her thoughts, even her dreams. Her family has warned her to have nothing to do with him, or any members of the Clann. But when Tristan is suddenly everywhere she goes, Savannah fears she's destined to fail.
For years, Tristan has been forbidden to even speak to Savannah Colbert. Then Savannah disappears from school for a week and comes back…different, and suddenly he can't stay away. Boys seem intoxicated just from looking at her. His own family becomes stricter than ever. And Tristan has to fight his own urge to protect her, to be near her no matter the consequences….

This is a great variation on a traditional paranormal topic. I can't say what so I don't spoil the plot. Needless to say this book has reeled me in completely. I can not wait for the sequel, COVET, which is due out in 2012. Written from two points of view (Tristan and Savannah), Melissa gives the reader fresh perspectives throughout the novel. The emotions scream off the page. As you may have read from my previous posts, I believe that reader connection to be the most important aspect of a book. You can completely relate to both main characters.
Melissa entices readers with foreshadowing teasers throughout the book and ends with a bang. I love the dynamics between Tristan and Savannah. Her mother, grandmother and father should prove more interesting in the next book. The main focus is on the two characters, but I love Savannah's best friend, Anne. With her determination, grit and sass, she is my favorite character. Tristan's sister Emily is another character I am looking forward to in the COVET. There could be some fantastic plot twists with her.
If you love Twilight, you will love Crave. It is one of my favorites and I highly recommend it!
