How do you defy destiny?Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history. As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.
Finally! A Greek mythology series I can sink my teeth into! Honestly, I'm not a big fan of The Lightening Thief, or some of the other GM books out there. They tend to get caught up in the mythology and leave the plot behind.

Not this novel.

This fantastic novel has everything: suspense, drama, romance, humor and mystery. The flow is perfect. I jumped in my car and got book two immediately... but I'm not gonna talk about THAT one yet ;) Josephine rocks the whole Romeo and Juliet motif. She has taken two concepts and completely resuscitated them. It is extremely difficult to pull off a new take on Greek mythology, but she accomplished that task splendidly.

Can I just say that I am a big Lucas fan now :) Hubba! Hubba! The chemistry between the two could light up a city block for a month! You could really feel the tension and the drama. I laughed, I cried, I cheered... and I want more! Book two (Dreamless) is out now with book four (Goddess) due to release May 28, 2013. Excellent book for ages 14 and up.
