Can true love be forgotten?
As the only scion who can descend into the Underworld, Helen Hamilton has been given a nearly impossible task. By night she wanders through Hades, trying to stop the endless cycle of revenge that has cursed her family. By day she struggles to overcome the fatigue that is rapidly eroding her sanity. Without Lucas by her side, Helen is not sure she has the strength to go on.
Just as Helen is pushed to her breaking point, a mysterious new Scion comes to her rescue. Funny and brave, Orion shields her from the dangers of the Underworld. But time is running out--a ruthless foe plots against them, and the Furies' cry for blood is growing louder.
As the ancient Greek world collides with the mortal one, Helen's sheltered life on Nantucket descends into chaos. But the hardest task of all will be forgetting Lucas Delos.
Josephine Angelini's compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding as an unforgettable love triangle emerges and the eternal cycle of revenge intensifies. Eagerly awaited, this sequel to the internationally bestselling Starcrossed delivers a gritty, action-packed love story that exceeds all expectations.
That was a soccer kick to the gut... In a great way! There was so much going on my head was spinning. And hello newcomer (won't spoil it for you)! We are facing multiple foes in this second installment. Some we knew about... and some that are a shocker.
It's always interesting to read some one's take on hell. This version is pretty creepy. Helen goes there night after night experiencing some freaky stuff. Warning to younger readers, it is pretty gory. For example: one night in order to escape the inside of a porcupine like tree in hades, she had to ram her eye... literally skewer her eyeball onto one of the spikes.. Yikes. So this novel is not for the faint of heart. But I will say there is a purpose to all the gore. I don't read or watch the "blood and guts" types because they are usually mindless junk. I can't tell you why this important, but trust me on this one.
Lucas.. ah Lucas. Big hug man. He is going through his own version of hell being completely, emphatically, irrevocably in love with....(spoiler)... someone he can't be with. Ever. Unfortunately, his Dad is not a good influence on him and he starts going down a dark path. My heart aches for the poor guy. We really need to give him a break on the next novel. He deserves it.
New guy. Interesting. He is connected to someone that is a BIG wrench in Helen's life. My heart is torn for everyone because it seems like a no win situation for all. (RUBBING HANDS WITH GLEE... yes, said it before.. masochist)
This installment will yank on your heart strings and the is a gigantic cliff hanger... make that two cliff hangers. I can not wait to get my little hands in Goddess, book three (due out May 2013).
