No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it

Get out the defibrillator because my heart stopped while reading OPAL by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I seriously needed to find emergency aspirin after this book because I could not feel a pulse.

NEVER, EVER have I been so heartbroken reading something. As much as I was bawling my eyes out, Armentrout gave me brilliant wit, combustible passion, jolly fun and thought provoking issues. I do think Armentrout is wicked for how she ended it. She may just be the Queen of Torment because I will be in agony until book four releases.

Let me just start with Daemon. Maybe I shouldn't or I won't talk about anything else. OK... sigh.. moving on. Katy is dealing with the horrible events from ONYX (book #2). She is starting to open up to Daemon and embrace their relationship and bond. Their relationship gets turned up from simmer past boiling to surface-of-the-sun hotness. But more than that, it was solid and sure. More than passion, more than obsession, it is about friendship, rapport and collaboration. What I love about this series is how Armstrong is able to write in such a bewitching and engrossing way. Her characters are sumptuous, fathomless, introspective and delectable.

The plot centers around enemies that return and plans that are made. I don't want to spoil it for you but I will say its fabulously paced and more intense than a fist fight with the groom and a jaded ex-lover during a wedding.

Now....drum roll... DAEMON. Sigh. I didn't think it was possible, but Armentrout made him even more irresistible. He opens up revealing whole new sides to himself: vulnerable, envious, besotted and genial. Yes.. I know... I couldn't believe it either. Have no fears, his sardonic side is still there. Dee has become bitter and horrid because of what happened in the last book. She grew through this novel, gaining a more balanced personality. New characters introduced had depth as well, which is unusual in other novels. All the secondary characters were stimulating, engrossing and well developed.

The riveting ending had me transfixed. Literally, my hubby was trying to talk to me and had to physically turn my head to get my attention. I should be stock in Kleenex tissues if Armentrout continues to write heart wrenching, soul searing cliff hangers like this one. Honestly, my chest was aching like after a hit from a linebacker. My mind did not want to accept there were no more pages to the book. I looked like a lost puppy wondering the street looking for its owner. Where could the rest of the book be??? Denial, plain and simple. My brain was protecting itself because I didn't want to accept how long I would have to wait to find out what happens.

My advice: go buy it NOW but make sure to start it in the morning. Otherwise you will be up ALL NIGHT because you will not be able to put this one down!
