What do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world?

Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Betarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives among the romantic hills with their archaeologist parents. Stuck among the rubble of the medieval castles in rural Tuscany, on yet another hot, dusty archaeological site, Gabi and Lia are bored out of their minds...until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces.

Suddenly Gabi's summer in Italy is much, much more interesting.

Lisa blew me out of the water with her magnetic tale of two sisters who get transported back to 14th century Italy. Marcello and Luca have stolen my heart (sorry hubby) and I must say I could not nor would not choose between them. I'd pick both.

Go Team Lucello! LOL.  What a rush! It has been a LONG time since I have been so obsessed over a series as I have with the River of Time Series. You have drama, history, romance, humor, mystery, excitement, fantasy all rolled up in one awesome package. And did I mention hot 14th century Italian knights? Enough said right there!

Bergren created some of the best female leads I have ever read. And no, I am not getting paid for this review. LOL. These girls had depth, richness, complexity and soul. Gabi especially was a "take down" kind of girl. I can't spoil it for you but she blows the pants off these 14th century Italian knights. They have NEVER seen a girl take charge and be so fierce. These were girls on a mission.

Gabi just rocked it... even when she was freaking out about being sucked by in time. Some might be surprised that there could be a novel both a Paranormal and Christian.... but it is NOT... I repeat... NOT in your face. It blows ALL other Christian books out of the water. Her characters are regular, normal human beings dealing with paranormal problems. Time travel problems! They don't know how they got there and they aren't sure how to get back but they rock these knights' minds with their fighting skills. This really is just "all-around-shoot-me-into-orbit-it's-that-awesome" fiction. It's subtle, it's real, it's moving and it makes me want to get up and dance it is just so fantastic!

I don't want to spoil it, but it is just such a fantastic idea. These girls get thrown back in time, have to learn to adjust to the customs, the dress, the hygiene issues (yuck!) and oh yeah... try NOT to get killed in the process. The lead males, Marcello and Luca have completely stolen my heart.

The pacing is fantastic and well thought out. Bergren packs a punch right away with a dramatic pace and it only picks up from there. One of the aspects I most enjoyed was how multidimensional and engaging the characters were. I was sucked in like the Star ship Enterprise into a black hole. She created rich historical backdrops and developed breathtaking action. The romance was expertly handled and it felt as though you were going through it yourself. Honestly, there really isn't enough good things to say about this book! So no matter who you are, you HAVE to pick up a copy today. It really says something that this would be my pick if I could ONLY recommend a book to anyone!

Go check it out the whole series today!
