EXPECTED PUBLICATION DATE:  AUGUST 27, 2013 by Entangled Publishing
GENRES: YA • Science Fiction • Aliens • Paranormal Romance • Supernatural • Action • Suspense • Mystery

(Technically 5.0...Which I have NEVER given out before!)

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

It took me a few days to read the book, because it was THAT overwhelming. It took me a few days to collect my scattered brain cells because it was THAT epic.

Armentrout took this series to a new level. I'm talking from nice dinner out to your wildest fantasy dinner complete with your favorite actor serving you chocolate truffles in boxers while fanning you on a deserted island. I have never... ever... had my mind blown on that scale.

First off, I wanted to thank Entangled Publishing and Liz Pelletier for my eARC copy (which I won) of ORIGIN. Second, I have to gush, spill and cheer over this incredible new installment in the Lux Series. And I may break out in giddy dancing and mild singing at certain points... fair warning. (Aren't you glad I don't do video reviews? :) )

When I said that this book was of epic proportions, I was speaking God's honest truth. Several times while reading, the revelations, intensity and emotions were so overwhelming I had to set it down to absorb it all.

This fourth book was a bit of a departure from the first three in the overall arrangement and scale. You could say that she took what was a top college football team and turned them into Super Bowl Champions (or in Non-American terms... World Cup Champions.) The richness, the depth, the complexity of the story was better than any dessert Giada De Laurentiis or Bobby Flay could EVER concoct.

Being that this was an advanced copy, I am limited in what I can say. But what I can tell you is this: if you ever read ten books in your life, this should be one of them. Seriously. (Though I'd recommend you read the first three but you already knew that.)

Katy was taken in a heart wrenching scene at the end of book three. Daemon was on fire to get her back, anyway he could. I fell completely in love with him in ORIGIN as I listened to his feelings for Katy. His fear, his determination and his passion were tangible, organic and acute.  My heart raced, my hands dripped with sweat and my lungs stopped functioning as I followed his perilous journey.

Armentrout was a master at conveying feelings, emotions and intent. My heart truly broke again and again throughout the novel. My soul felt cracked and devastated. Daemon's and Katy's souls were laid bare and it felt like mine was too. Their fervent love for one another, their fiery and resolute commitment to one another was the highlight of the book. (Good thing I stocked up on emotional binging snacks, I needed them.)

There was a guns loaded, pedal to the medal, full throttle potency to the storyline. All the plot threads coalesced to weave incredibly intricate twists and patterns. Armentrout kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. She kept the tension tighter than Kim Kardashian's third trimester pregnancy dresses. Even during the quieter scenes, I was overwhelmed. Intense drama, unnerving thrills and bone chilling scares left me huddling under the covers. (Yes, my hubby was there but I couldn't hold onto him, my book and my reading light.)

Armentrout introduced a new armada of characters that deeply enhanced the overall story arcs. I felt they only supported the plot and felt naturally included. As you would expect, they led to a host of new questions and speculations... which... I... can't... talk... about!! It was like getting the mother load of Halloween candy, there were so many great characters. Some were sweet, some were hard to decipher and some of them made me shiver like whenever I read about He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

I know I probably sound like a broken record, but this book was legendary. My husband thought I was birthing so many cows reading this that I could supply enough cheese to make the entire state of Wisconsin happy for a year. He seriously thought I needed to  pull myself together as I was a blubbering mess most of the time.

ORIGIN was the perfect combination of a strong story, elaborate plot lines that interlocked, evolving and perplexing questions, decadent and intricate characters with the mother of all cliffhangers. Armentrout answered some questions but loaded us up with a landfill sized bundle of new ones. The characters went through massive changes that rocked my world and landed me several zip codes away. It wasn't what I expected but everything I could have every wanted in a story. (And no, I'm not being paid for this review... LOL.) I might add that the cliffhanger should come with a warning label, "WARNING: If you read this, wear bladder control panties and keep a defibrillator nearby."

If you haven't read the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, I am giving you a moral requirement and get your hands on them today. If you are already a fan then this latest installment will exceed your wildest expectations. Thank you Jennifer for creating a fascinating, seductive, irresistible and delectable series that ages better than fine wine and delivers an emotional, power packed punch that even Muhammad Ali would admire.   Enjoy and Happy Reading!
