New New Adult Release & GIVEAWAY! If I'd Known by Rebecca Donovan!

If I’d Known is now available in the US and Canada!

"We're all cursed—every single one of us."
Lana Peri isn't afraid of telling anyone exactly what she thinks, even if it gets her into trouble—which it usually does. But the thing is, she can't lie. Her unfiltered honesty doesn’t exactly make her many friends, although it does get her kicked out of class regularly. Lana knows the truth will eventually be her undoing. If only she’d known it would begin today.
It’s meant to be a night Lana and her best friends will never forget. And it is... for all the wrong reasons. Lana witnesses not just one, but two violent crimes committed by the same person. Except she can't say a word. Not if she wants to protect her friends.
Lana’s silence will implicate her and inadvertently cover for him. But it’s not like she has a choice. He is powerful. Connected. Untouchable. And a friend of Joey Harrison—the guy Lana is uncharacteristically drawn to the moment they meet. Joey’s also the only one who is told the truth.
His lies will ruin her. Her silence will keep them safe. The truth won’t save any of them.

OVERVIEW:
USA Today and New York Times bestselling author, Wendy Higgins, brings you the gripping, sensual conclusion to her apocalyptic trilogy.

Amber Tate never dreamed their heart-wrenching escape from the enemy’s attack would lead them to the most beautiful place she’s ever seen, marred by one ugly fact; it’s under enemy control. Like everywhere else in the world, Elmendorf military base in Alaska has been captured, and it’s time to take it back—all of it—one base, one city at a time. After losing so much, Amber clings to the only precious person she has left, and vows to sacrifice everything to help save the Earth.

Remy Haines is a lover, not a fighter, so when she finds herself in enemy territory, expected to feign allegiance while gathering intel for the rebel cause, she’s never been more out of her element. Tensions only increase when her feelings for Jacob “Tater” Tate won’t go away, and the enemy’s leader takes an interest in her. She’s torn between what her heart wants, and what she knows she should do. As for what her body needs…well, it’s always had a mind of its own.

REVIEW:
I love Wendy Higgins and her writing. I am a HUGE FAN.

So when the opportunity to get my hands on an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) I jumped on it! I mean really... is there any other choice? No. The only answer is: ABSOLUTELY!

Undone starts right in from where we left off in book two, Unrest. If you haven't read that or book one, Unknown, then stop reading this right now and go read it! If you are up to date, then let's begin....

Wendy did not pull her punches. This book started off at Warp Speed Factor 4 and didn't hit the brakes the whole way through. It's an emotional jump start from the first page.

I felt overwhelmed at times. Wendy packed this novel with so much emotional pull. Scene after scene was saturated with emotion: tension, drama, humor, anxiety, fear, romance.... it was almost too much. ALMOST.

But that's when you know a book is outstanding, because THE FEELS. Wendy develops her characters and the situations envelope you. She wraps you up and immerses you into the mind of her characters. You feel what they feel. Yeeeessssssss. I love how she goes back and forth between Reme and Amber. It kept the pacing steady and my interest and peak level.

Wendy delivered some explosive revelations in this final installment. Loose ends and questions were answered. You KNOW I'm not going to reveal any spoilers, but let's just acknowledge that my mind was shattered.

I must say that my heart was with Tater on this journey. I kept wondering if he was going to crack. He had been through so much, and wasn't handling it well. As I read Undone, and saw what was happening to him and how he watched out for Reme, I just wanted to wrap him up and take him home. I can't even imagine how he felt. I love you, man.

The story was masterfully crafted. Wendy didn't spill the beans. She carefully weaved details and storylines into a magical web that ensnared my mind. I was kept on pins and needles the whole time, wanting answers.

Reme was a big surprise for me. She was like an onion, with layer after layer being revealed. I knew from book one that there was more to her, and we find the mother load in this final book. She develops a lot as well. She has to. She's put through hell in this book and it keeps getting worse and worse.

By the last couple of chapters, I wanted to have words with Wendy. I mean, really. How much do you expect a person to deal with? It's just not fair.

Amber develops as well. Her path in this story is very different. I will say she had to have so much patience.  Hers was a waiting game this go round. She made some mistakes and had to learn how to live with them. Amber also had some wonderful surprises as well.

My favorite part of the book was actually the hardest to read. It was Reme's story. The whole extensive lot of secondary characters were well developed and I fell a little more in love with each of them. Then, of course Wendy has to go and cause events that made me cry like a newborn baby.

I really enjoyed the new Alaska location. It really fit well with the story and felt very realistic. Then ending was the only hiccup to me. I wished it was drawn out a bit more. Wendy definately left the door open for a spin-off, and I'm dropping my suggestion note for that into the box. I can really see where it could take off.

But alas, this story has come to a close. May we have a moment of silence for the ending to an original, captivating and engaging trilogy that ruled my heart from the first page to the last. It slew me and left me hungry for more. You can't get any better than that.

Well done, Wendy.... well done!

BOOK REVIEW: BETWEEN LIES BY ALISON L. PERRY

BETWEEN LIES (The In-Between Series, Book 2)
BY: ALISON L PERRY

PUBLISHED: July 31st 2017 by Alison L. Perry Books, LLC

GENRES: Vampires, Fantasy, Mystery, Suspense, Romance, High School, YA - Young Adult, 14+ age

RATING: 5 STARS

OVERVIEW:
Sadie Criswel is a teenage vampire misfit who can’t do anything right. After flunking out of University, where she couldn’t keep up with her vampire peers, she’s persuaded her parents to let her try human high school, where she hopes to better fit in.

Now attending Jefferson High, Sadie makes new friends… and foes. To thwart a new set of mean girls, she accidentally ends up running for Homecoming queen. And though she’s still dating Kade, from University, Jefferson’s resident bad boy catches her eye. But her new school adventure raises more questions about her existence. Why does her science teacher look so much like her vampire boyfriend? Why does her previous vampire teacher follow her to Jefferson High? And why does Harper, her new close friend, seem so familiar yet have so many secrets of her own?

After Pen, a member of the Firsts, reveals important clues about why Sadie is different from other vampires, pieces of the puzzle fall into place. But it’s not until real danger confronts Sadie and Harper that they realize their past and present are tied together, raising the biggest question of all: Who can Sadie trust?

REVIEW:
I was SO excited when I saw Alison was releasing the sequel. I fell in love with book one, Caught In Between. My hands were ITCHING to get ahold of a copy.

My husband laughed at me, I looked like I had just won the Olympic Trials.

If you haven't read Caught In Between, then stop reading this NOW and go get a copy here: AMAZON (CAUGHT IN BETWEEN) and then come back.

Now that housekeeping is done, let's get into the fun stuff. Book two starts off with Sadie's first day in human school. It is tough enough to start a new school, but having to deal with unruly fangs... oh, the joy. Then, the "it" girls go after her... in a "good" way at first, then they turn on her very quickly. For those in school, and those of us who survived it, we ALL know THOSE girls. Everything you do, say or imply gets twisted and turned on you.

Sadie's troubles from her old school prepared her well for dealing with these pests. Her reaction to take them down off their high horses had me waving hands yelling, "preach it, girl!"

Alison did a wonderful job of weaving the story lines and integrating new twists into the plot. Pen makes a return and drops some serious cliffhanger clues that left Sadie (and me) frustrated and nervous. She was so cryptic.... granted she is a thousands-year-old vampire... but still. Give the girl a break.

UPCOMING RELEASE! SNEAK PEEK AT WOLVES & ROSES

WOLVES AND ROSES
(Fairy Tales of the Magicorum, BOOK 1)
BY: CHRISTINA BAUER

EXPECTED RELEASE DATE:
October 31st 2017 by Monster House Books, LLC

GENRES: Fairy Tale Retelling • Fantasy • Fiction • Romance • Suspense • Tough Female Lead • Wit/Humor • Mystery

MY RATING OF SNEAK PEEK SECTION: 5 STARS

This is snarky fun at its best. I am SO intrigued by this spin on fairy tales!
You can get a FREE sneak peek of the highly anticipated new Tales of the Magicorum by Christina Bauer, author of the bestselling Angelbound and Beholder series!

Seventeen-year-old Bryar Rose has a problem. She’s descended from one of the three magical races—shifters, fairies, or witches. That makes her one of the Magicorum, and Magicorum always follow a fairy tale life template. In Bryar’s case, that template should be Sleeping Beauty.

“Should” being the key word.

Trouble is, Bryar is nowhere near the sleeping beauty life template. Not even close. She doesn’t like birds or woodland creatures. She can’t sing. And she certainly can’t stand Prince Philpot, the so-called “His Highness of Hedge Funds” that her aunties want her to marry. Even worse, Bryar’s having recurring dreams of a bad boy hottie and is obsessed with finding papyri from ancient Egypt. What’s up with that?

All Bryar wants is to attend a regular high school with normal humans and forget all about shifters, fairies, witches, and the curse that Colonel Mallory the Magnificent placed on her. And she might be able to do just that--if only she can just keep her head down until her eighteenth birthday when the spell that’s ruined her life goes buh-bye.

But that plan gets turned upside down when Bryar Rose meets Knox, the bad boy who’s literally from her dreams. Knox is a powerful werewolf, and his presence in her life changes everything, and not just because he makes her knees turn into Jell-O. If Bryar can’t figure out who—or what—she really is, it might cost both her and Knox their lives… as well as jeopardize the very nature of magic itself.

REVIEW:

I needed a defibrillator because my heart stopped while reading this book. Captivating. Alluring. Layered. Dynamic. Polished. Cora pulled out all the stops to deliver a masterful high fantasy novel. Her world she built enveloped me with its depth and richness. Cora wrapped the reader up in her highly developed mythology, characters and storyline. The novel was so moving that my heart was pulled frommy chest and now rests within her mighty pen. I must say, I had a small panic attack knowing that I was reading an ARC, which meant it would be THAT MUCH LONGER till I had resolution with book two's release.

I've always loved Cora's books. This was a vivid departure from her normal writing style but it was brilliant. You know that I find it rare for an author to have a solid range.... first to third person, contemporary to fantasy. Cora has become a standard of all around perfection for all authors to aspire to. Third person has never been the most personal point of view in my opinion, but Cora sucked me into the characters just like with her first person writing skills.

The writing was so polished, so tight. Cora's air tight (haha... get that..) mythology was bewitching. She really held the right balance of information and disseminating that throughout the book. Cora never gave away too much or too little. Her world building was on point. Some authors leave you wondering with questions about the kind of era or type of dress, but Cora filled in all the blanks, but still gave the reader room to imagine.

Aurora (Rora/Roar) was a fabulous Main Character. I love that she had faults and fears that reflected in her actions and interactions. Rora was real, tangible and organic. As you all know, my number one criteria in reviewing a book is character development. ( I sound like I'm beating a dead horse about that...) Roar had it in SPADES. It felt like watching plants spring and open up in those fast forward videos you see. It was that visceral.

As a weather geek, I loved the idea of being able to control storms, to use magic to do so is the icing on the cake. The idea of carrying the heart of the storm around in your pocket, or jewelry... brilliant. However, Cora adds even more dimension to the idea that will shock and delight the reader.

Romance writing has always been a balancing act. Many lean too much one way or the other and end up face planting. Cora's books have always been perfectly centered. Roar is no exception. The relationship is organic and tangible. Not to mention as delectable as chocolate fudge cake and as hot as my homemade chili. (Hubby likes spicy food best when they make him sweat... masochist...)

I loved getting to know Aurora. She was like a sweet onion.... you kept peeling back layer after layer. Better yet... she was like Baklava. Sweet, yet had some bite... yet fragile at the same time.  Aurora encapsulated everything you'd want in a heroine. She was not perfect, yet she had a core strength that was uncovered throughout the book.

I can imagine the struggles she went through, covering up what she thought was a defect. Hiding because people wouldn't have accepted her for who she was, not who they wanted her to be. This book is truly a journey in many ways for her. Aurora learns much about herself and grows into her own skin. It was an amazing journey and one you will DEFINITELY want to take with her.

I can't stress enough how much I loved this book. Absolute perfection wrapped up in a GORGEOUS cover. A must read.

SUPRISE! COVER REVEAL & RELEASE DAY ANNOUNCEMENT! ALL CLOSED OFF BY CORA CARMACK

From New York Times bestselling author Cora Carmack, comes the highly anticipated fourth standalone title in her Rusk University Series, ALL CLOSED OFF! A passionate story and journey, get ready to be mesmerized with Stella’s story! ALL CLOSED OFF is coming your way May 1, 2017!

ABOUT ALL CLOSED OFF (Releasing May 1, 2017):

Stella Santos is fine.

Maybe something terrible happened to her that she can’t even remember. And maybe it drives her crazy when her friends treat her like she’s on the verge of breaking because of it. Maybe it feels even worse when they do what she asks and pretend that it never happened at all. And maybe she’s been getting harassing emails and messages for months from people who don’t even know her, but hate her all the same.

But none of that matters because she’s just fine.

For Ryan Blake, Stella was always that girl. Vibrant and hilarious and beautiful. He wanted her as his best friend. His more than friends. His everything and anything that she would give him. Which these days is a whole lot of nothing. She gets angry when he’s there. Angry when he’s not there. Angry when he tries to talk and when he doesn’t.

When Stella devises an unconventional art project for one of her classes all about exploring intimacy—between both friends and strangers—Ryan finds himself stepping in as guinea pig after one of her subjects bails. What was supposed to be an objective and artistic look at emotion and secrets and sex suddenly becomes much more personal. When he hits it off with another girl from the project, Stella will have to decide if she’s willing to do more than make art about intimacy. To keep him, she’ll have to open up and let herself be the one thing she swore she’d never be again.

Vulnerable.
